Dear Friends and Partners,

Greetings in the Name of Jesus! I hope you are all doing well!

I’d like to share a poem that beautifully encapsulates this journey of restoration:

"The Broken Ones Weren't Born That Way."

We have been quite active here at DISC, and I want to share some significant updates with you. First and foremost, we experienced the loss of one of our beloved warriors, John Reed, who stepped into the presence of Jesus on May 26. John was a cherished member of our community, and his positive spirit touched us all. Despite facing great challenges, including the loss of a leg and toes, he always had kind words for everyone. He took great pride in serving as our bus driver and was truly a great man. His absence will surely be felt by everyone who knew him.

In the midst of our grieving, we are pressing forward and making substantial progress in our ministry—both spiritually and physically. Here are a couple of things we are diligently working on:

Glory Thrift Store - We are now open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Tuesday through Friday, offering fantastic bargains! However, we are urgently in need of furniture donations. If you have gently used furniture that you would like to part with, we would be happy to arrange a pickup. Your contributions will greatly help us! We are also seeking partnerships to complete the remaining remodel of the building that will house our Life Skills Training classes. The estimated cost to finish this project is approximately $35,000. Completing this renovation is crucial as we aim to launch life-changing classes not only for our members but also for the wider community. Our vision is to empower individuals with both Jesus and practical skills to help them thrive once again!

Church Upgrade - Exciting progress is being made! We are currently painting and cleaning both the church and the Thrift Store, transitioning from purple to a fresh white. Our talented resident artist, Daryl, is doing a remarkable job on the signage, and we’re nearly finished with the church's makeover, ready to bring new life to the Glory Thrift Store.

The Comeback Chronicles - Don’t miss our weekly TV show! It features inspiring testimonies of our community members who have ascended from the depths of addiction to reclaim their lives. This show is a beacon of hope and can truly bless anyone struggling with similar challenges. Just go to Roku, click on "Showtime Vision Network," and tune in to "The Comeback Chronicles." Spread the word! Thank you for your continued support and prayers. Together, we are making an impact, and with your help, we can reach even greater heights for our community.

As we reflect on the staggering statistics of homelessness in our country, it’s heartbreaking to know that in 2024, there were approximately 771,480 homeless individuals in the US, with around 4,000 of them right here in Dallas. This reality compels us to take action and expand our services to uplift more lives. Currently, our Life Skills program is bustling with men eager to regain their footing in life. We are committed to making positive changes to become a more effective rehabilitation and discipleship facility. Our goal is to obtain state approval, which will enable us to secure insurance coverage and provide access to a professional staff that includes a doctor, nurse, certified counselors, and classes addressing both the Word of God and the real-life challenges faced by our individuals—addiction, incarceration, abandonment, rejection, and depression, to name a few.

These issues are pressing and must be addressed to empower our people to serve the Lord as powerful witnesses while also leading productive lives and holding down jobs.

In closing, we are in the process of hiring a consulting firm to help us structure our Life Skills program effectively.

Second Final Thought - All of this requires a united effort—a village. We are in desperate need of additional partners. Will you prayerfully consider how you can support us in making this vision a reality?

Dear Friends and Partners,

I hope this note finds you well and that you enjoyed a joyful Easter surrounded by friends and family. For individuals facing serious challenges, these moments of peace and happiness are powerful reminders of hope—and they are made possible by your continued support.

Ministry Updates & Milestones

We’re thrilled to share that the exterior painting of our church is nearly complete—our once-purple walls now gleam in fresh white! With the outside almost done, we’re preparing to move inside to upgrade our bathrooms, install a new shower facility, and refresh the flooring.

Our Glory Resale Shop is also getting a major makeover. The front is fully remodeled and we're now turning our attention to the back sections, which will house our LifeSkills Training Classes.

You're Invited: Open House Luncheon – May 22

We’d love to show you all the progress in person! Join us for an Open House Luncheon at the Glory Resale Shop:

  • Wednesday, May 22
  • 12:30PM – 2:00 PM

Men’s Ministry & Media Outreach

Our men are thriving, and we’re especially excited about their participation in the Freedom Conference this weekend at Create Church. Huge thanks to Create, Mark, and Bruce—you are a blessing to us!

And don’t forget to catch our new TV series, The Comeback Chronicles, now streaming weekly on Roku via Showtime Vision Network. These real-life stories of restoration will inspire and move you. Thank you, Pietro Baker, for helping us share these powerful testimonies with the world.

As we move into summer, I want to thank each of you from the bottom of my heart. Your prayers, generosity, and partnership make this work possible. We couldn’t do it without you.
